11 killed in Nepal bus accident

A police official says a passenger bus drove off a bridge and plunged into a river in central Nepal, leaving at least 11 dead and a dozen more injured.
Police official Dev Bahadur Bohara said Sunday that 11 bodies were recovered from the wreckage while the injured were taken to hospital for treatment.
Police are searching the river for any passengers who may have been swept away by the water.
Bohara says that initial reports said the driver was trying to avoid a child crossing the bridge and lost control of the bus, and drove off the bridge. The area is about 160 kilometers (100 miles) west of the capital, Katmandu.
