3 killed in Jessore road crash

Three people were killed and 37 were injured in a road accident in Chowgacha upazila of Jessore when they were returning after attending a programme in Atroshi complex early Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Ashraful Islam, Babul Mia and Altaf Sardar of the upazila, reported our Benapole correspondent.
The accident took place around 12:30am when a Chowgacha-bound bus from Jessore hit a roadside tree near the upazila town leaving 40 people injured, said Golam Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chowgacha Police Station.
The driver of the bus lost his control over the steering causing the accident, the OC added.
Of the injured, 39 people were whisked off to Chowgacha Upazila Health Complex and Jessore General Hospital where Ashraful and Babul succumbed to their injuries, the police official said.
The body of Altaf pulled out from the mangled bus Tuesday, he added.
